Hearts clinch Ghana @60 years on cup over Kotoko

Accra Hearts of Oak have crowned their season with the Ghana @60 years on cup after a goalless draw game with rivals Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara sports stadium.

Hearts who won the first leg by 3 goals to one at which helped them to win the trophy on a 3-1 aggregate over Kotoko.

The first half started on a very cagey note as both sides tried to establish dominance on the game but Hearts were the better side in the early minutes as they made the early strides into Kotoko goal area.

The Kotoko defence stood firm in the responsibilities as they have curtailed the attacking prowess of the Phobians with Felix Annan making some good saves when called into action.

Kwame Boahene got the brightest chance for Kotoko in the first half but failed to utilized it as it was cleared off the goal line by Inusah Musah after goalkeeper Ben Mensah was completely beaten.

Hearts nearly broke the deadlock but goalkeeper Felix Annan salvaged the situation for the Porcupine Warriors in the 78th minutes through a defense blunder.

Inusah Musah and Richard Akrofi were very firm at the defense as they curtailed any form of attacks from the Porcupine Warriors.

Both teams performance wasn’t that good which lead to much talks within the supporters as the kind of recruitment both side are doing.

Kotoko tried very to get into the lead but the central defense pair of Inusah Musah and Richard Akrofi were very firm as they curtailed any form of attacks from the Porcupine Warriors.

This cup is good for Hearts and it supporters as they have redeemed the FA Cup loss, while Kotoko were looking for another win to confirm their recent dominance on their archrivals.”

Hearts of Oak then won the trophy at stake and a cash prize of Ghc50,000.

Saddick Adams couldn’t complete as he was taken to hospital due to injury in the first half while Jackson Owusu also went out due to injury.

Hearts of Oak were given GH¢ 50000 in addition to the appearance fee of GH¢ 50000.

The game was arranged by Ghana @ 60 Years On Committee and My Sports Organization is in commemoration of Ghana’s year long anniversary celebration.
