Ghanaian media personality and musician Quophi Okyeame, known in private life as Daniel Quophi Amoateng, has responded to allegations of spousal abuse.
Addressing long-standing rumors that he abused his wife, Stacey Amoateng, which allegedly resulted in her eye problems, he unequivocally stated that he has never physically assaulted his wife or disciplined his children.
In an interview with Okay FM’s drive-time show host, Nana Romeo, he clarified that his wife’s eye problems were pre-existing and that she takes medication to manage the condition. He further mentioned that his son also experiences similar eye issues.
The former member of the defunct music duo, highlighted that his upbringing by a Fante woman has taught him to respect and value women, making abuse unthinkable for him.
In his own words: “he said;
“But if you’re wise, you don’t rush to respond to such allegations. Ultimately, I ask myself if it’s true and if it’s not, I’m good to go about my life guilt-free. I can never hit my wife.”
“My wife had and still has issues with one of her eyes. She has crossed eyes, and my son has the same problem. Her eye got infected, and she had to wear black sunglasses for a while and use lots of medications.”
“But in our society, if a woman is seen with blood in her eyes, it is swiftly concluded that she has been beaten by her husband. “May God not forgive me if I ever do that. No, I don’t do that,”
