Popular Ghanaian skit maker Dr Likee has finally addressed rumours of a fallout with his colleague Kyekyeku.
According to Dr Likee, known in real life as Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, there is no personal issue between them as widely speculated.
Speaking in a recent interview, the comic actor explained that his decision not to feature Kyekyeku in every production is a deliberate strategy to grow his entire team and manage audience expectations.
He disclosed that he has several talents under his wing and once a member gains recognition and a strong following, he encourages them to also build their own brand and stand on their own.
Dr Likee noted that keeping Kyekyeku away from some videos also helps to sustain audience interest.
“If we keep showing the same face every time, the audience gets too used to him. Sometimes you need to let them miss him so that when he returns, the excitement is bigger,” he explained.
He added that his content decisions are largely driven by what viewers want to see and what will bring the numbers.
“There are a lot of people here. If a person travels for a show and is going for the second time, he will be questioned. Meanwhile, that is probably what the audience wants and the numbers we want. There is no issue between the two of us. It’s because we are doing what the viewers want. I can’t shoot with only Kyekyeku all the time,” Dr Likee stated.
This clarification puts to rest rumours that the two comedians are not on good terms.
