“It’s unfortunate for Ghana. Ghana has a good team, but it’s unfortunate that only one of us can go through,” Sudan’s head coach, Kwesi Appiah, said.
“I’m happy we’ve been able to put a smile on Sudanese faces,” he added.
This remarks come after Kwesi Appiah led the Sudan to defeat the Black Stars 2-0 on Tuesday at the Martyrs of February Stadium in the return leg, with the first leg ending in a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
With goals from Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud and Mohammed Abdelrahman, Sudan now has seven points in Group F, while Ghana remains with just two points, making their qualification prospects significantly more difficult.
Ghana now has to win at home against Niger and travel to Angola to beat them before they can stand a chance of qualifying for the 2025 Afcon tournament in Morocco.
