Ghanaian actress Matilda Asare has officially addressed her non-attendance at a recent gathering of creatives in Kumasi, where they met with Mr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister.
According to the movie producer, she was not aware of the invitation but only became aware of it after the meeting, when her colleagues informed her that it had been shared in their WhatsApp platform.

Speaking to Ike de Unpredictable on Angel FM in Kumasi, she explained that the invitation was shared on their Film Producers Association of Ghana – FIPAG platform, of which she is not an active member. She emphasized that this approach should be modified, citing an instance where former Second Lady Samira Bawumia wanted to meet with them and individual calls were made to inform them.
When asked, she declined the invitation due to her affiliation with the opposition party NPP. She responded that former second lady Samira Bawumia had met with some creative individuals, including known NDC members, so she saw no reason to extend a similar courtesy to the NDC.
I also reached out to veteran movie producer Mr. Samuel Nyamekye, accusing him of not informing me about the Minister’s invitation. However, he clarified that the invitation had been shared on our platform.
