Despite accomplishments in various areas, issues like corruption, high unemployment rates, and insufficient educational infrastructure continue to hinder progress.

HAPPY 68TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY BUT ARE YOU HAPPY AS A GHANAIAN?

Today, 6th March 2025, Ghana our beloved country celebrates 68 years as an Independent country and a great time for reflection.
We have achieved some successes and made some gains but I don’t think we have done enough to realize the dreams of our founding fathers.
I want us to reflect on why after 68 years;

1. Women are still underrepresented in almost all sectors of our country and leadership and it was not until recently we had our first female Vice President
2. Over 100,000 youth graduate annually from tertiary institutions not knowing when they will get employment
3. We have so much arable land but we are threatened by food insecurity and high food inflation
4. We are unable to add value to our natural resources to export and industrialize to reduce our dependency on imports
5. Our infrastructure like roads, railways, stadia etc is poor comparative to our peers
6. We have failed as a country to fight and end illegal mining that threatens our existence as a people
7. Our football is in its current mess and the 4 time AFCON Champions cannot even qualify for an expanded AFCON and our football and Sports does not attract investment.
8. Corruption has become endemic and attractive to those given the mandate to serve this country
9. Our values like honesty, kindness, dedication, trustworthiness, respect and the national interest are gradually eroding
10. In 2025, we have Ghanaian kids going to school to study under trees, patients sleeping on hospital floors but we spend huge sums to make our leaders live comfortably, pay $100,000 to Black Stars players and Management members and spend 225m GHS on a botched National Cathedral.
