UK-Based Ghanaian artist Reggie Zippy reportedly arrested – Close Friend reveals

Information reaching SIRKENN.com is that UK-based Ghanaian musician, Reggie Zippy, has reportedly been arrested and detained by UK authorities following a complaint filed by his ex-wife, Edith Ward.

According to Phelipe Lyks Wangyims his close friend and confidant, who resides in Sweden, Reggie’s arrest was triggered by a Facebook post he made discussing the struggles of fatherhood. Edith, who allegedly interpreted the post as an indirect reference to her, reportedly filed a complaint claiming it violated a Non-Molestation Order issued by the court.

Phelipe revealed that the arrest occurred on Reggie’s birthday, adding to the distress of those close to him. “I only found out later in the evening when I couldn’t reach him by phone,” Phelipe said. “His girlfriend, Afia Broni, had driven around to all his usual hangout spots but found no trace of him. Eventually, the police confirmed that Reggie had been taken into custody.”

He further alleged that Edith, being familiar with how the UK legal system works in favour of women in domestic disputes, has been using the system to silence Reggie. “From what I’ve seen, the order is merely a gagging tool based on weak and frivolous claims. A friend in Ghana obtained a copy from Edith herself,” he claimed.

Phelipe expressed concern over Reggie’s mental health, stating that the artist has been dealing with emotional distress due to being estranged from his children. “He was finally healing and doing well, and then this happened again,” he added.

In a heartfelt video message, Phelipe said: “This is the first time I’m publicly addressing the Reggie and Edith situation. I’ve had enough. Every time Reggie reacts emotionally, people on social media label him the ‘UK Funny Face.’ It’s unfair and exhausting.”

Efforts are underway to secure legal representation for Reggie. “I’m currently working behind the scenes to get him a solicitor. This will be handled legally moving forward,” Phelipe assured.

He concluded with a warning: “I don’t know what Edith’s endgame is, but if she continues down this path, she will be the one to lose in the end.”

The hashtag #JusticeForReggy has since emerged on social media, with fans and sympathizers calling for fairness and support for the embattled artist.
