In the CAF Champions League on Friday, Algerian team CR Belouizdad was defeated by Ghanaian champions Medeama SC after an incredible comeback.
The Tarkwa team scored their first three points of the season after rallying from a goal down to win 2-1.
At the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, a goal in stoppage time from adaptable defender Kamaradini Mamudu proved to be the difference for the Ghanaians.
Early in the game, defender Kamaradini Mamudu’s header from a corner kick struck the frame, giving Medeama their first opportunity to score.
Ishak Talal Boussouf was fouled inside the box, and although the hosts had the better of the play, it was the Algerians who took the lead.
In the 39th minute, Belouizdad took the lead thanks to a penalty kick converted by midfielder Abdelraouf Benguit.
At the end of the half, Kamaradini Mamudu’s free kick gave Medeama a swift reaction, deflecting Daniel Lomotey and beating goalkeeper Alexis Guendouz.
The Yellow and Mauves had a chance to take the lead in the 85th minute, but Alexis Guendouz expertly stopped Derrick Fordjour’s close range shot.
Finally, Kamaradini Mamudu headed home Kwadwo Amoako’s cross for Medeama to win the game.
The Young Africans SC, the Tanzanian champions, will be the guests of the Yellow and Mauves when they visit Baba Yara Stadium on Friday.
