The legal team and family of the late Ghanaian singer Daddy Lumba have reacted to a lawsuit initiated by his wife, Madam Akosua Serwaa.
According to Daddy Lumba’s lawyers’ response, Akosua Serwaa wrote a letter on February 4, 2018, to initiate divorce proceedings, and Lumba’s lawyers responded on February 27, granting her permission to proceed.
They also noted that Madam Akosua Serwaa presented traditional drinks at the late musician’s funeral.
However, the issue remains that they did not formally annul the ordinance marriage in court, meaning they are still legally married.

The initiation of this lawsuit followed the viral news announcing the late musician’s final funeral date as 6th and 7th December, 2025.
According to Akosua Serwaa, the final decision was made without consulting her, and as the legal wife of the late musician, she is entitled to perform the widow’s rites, contrary to Abusapanin’s announcement that Odo Broni would do so.
