During an interview on Asaasepa Radio in Accra, Eugene, the composer of “Monica”, stated that severe financial difficulties would never lead him to sell his music catalog.

Asamoah-Baidoo, a regular pundit on United Showbiz, provided his expert analysis, educating Eugene on the matter.

He said

Kuami Eugene spoke out of ignorance. His initial comment about ‘what kind of hunger would make him sell his catalog’ is misguided; you don’t need to be hungry to make that decision,” Arnold said in an interview on Onua FM.

He clarified that global artists sell their catalogues for strategic business reasons, not out of economic necessity. Arnold further underscored that Kuami Eugene does not even fully own most of his music.

It’s important to note that Kuami Eugene does not own most of his songs and, therefore, does not have the right to sell them. While he does have songwriting rights, the majority of his songs are under Lynx, which has now been sold to Richard Nii Amarh Quaye,” he added.
