Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan has shared his relief after a five-year-long legal battle concluded with the High Court granting his request for the annulment of his marriage to Gifty Sandra Gyamesi. Gyan expressed his contentment with the court’s decision and his readiness to focus on caring for his children and enjoying his life.

Gyan revealed that he had initiated the court proceedings due to his dissatisfaction with the marriage and his own investigation, suspecting that Gifty was already married when they wed in 2013.

Initial reports of the court ruling had suggested that Gyan had lost the case, as Gifty was awarded several properties, including two houses, two cars, land for a filling station, and a monthly stipend of GHS 25,000. However, Gyan clarified that all the properties awarded to Gifty were already registered in her name since he had gifted them to her.

While the GHS 25,000 monthly stipend was designated for the children, DNA tests confirmed that all three children were indeed Gyan’s. He emphasised that his primary objective for pursuing the legal action had been to obtain an annulment of the marriage.

“It has been five years, and people have said a lot of things, but I didn’t complain because I know that as a public figure, these things happen. Because of my kids, I won’t say anything, but now they are trying to twist the ruling to make it seem like I lost the case,” he said on Asempa FM as reported by Footballghana.

He further noted that he had warned Gifty about his intention to speak out following the court’s verdict. Gyan asserted that he had been vindicated since the court ruled in his favour and granted his wishes. He also suggested that the attempt to portray him negatively was not coming from his ex-wife but rather from individuals around her who were aware of the case’s outcome and wanted to protect their reputation.

This development marks the end of a long and contentious legal battle, allowing Asamoah Gyan to look forward to the future with a sense of closure and resolution.
