Renowned Ghanaian actor and Member of Parliament, John Dumelo, has pledged to support the creative arts sector, an industry that has been a cornerstone of his career.
As the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency and Deputy Minister designate for Food and Agriculture, he reiterated his commitment to the sector, citing his own experiences and roots within the industry.
John Dumelo shared these remarks at the launch of Celestine Donkor’s 11th Celestial Praiz concert on February 6, 2025.
He said… “Despite the fact that I am an MP now and I am in the Agric Ministry, I still will not forget where I came from which is the arts sector and I will always be an arts person. I will always be a creative person and if we don’t develop our own who else will develop it for us,” he said at the programme which was held at Tang Palace in Accra.
He highlighted that despite some people’s disregard for the creative industry, it greatly contributes to the nation’s economy.
Yesterday, President John Dramani Mahama mentioned John as the Deputy Minister designate for Food and Agriculture, and he is currently awaiting vetting.
